Details: Angelique Ionatos is a peerless Greek guitarist and singer with a 40-year career boasting around twenty albums. She returns this autumn with a new album on Ici, d'ailleurs... in France and Simone Records in Canada, which looks like being one of her most complete works. Angelique Ionatos's has had an unusual career. When she was 15, she left her home country for Belgium and then France where she recorded her first album in French with her brother Photis. The record was an instant critical success, receiving the Charles-Cros Academy Grand Prix, and helped forge her strong relationship with France. The universe portrayed in Angelique Ionatos's work is inextricably linked with the spheres of poetry and literature. She has often composed songs using texts by recognized authors like Odysseus Elytis, Oscar Wilde or Pablo Neruda. In 2014, she finally began composing her new album in greek which is entirely based on Greek poems and intended as a response to the current situation in her home country. Angelique's fabulous, striking and precise guitar playing has a lot to do with that but the self-evident beauty of her singing - strongly influenced by the funereal tones of threnody - profoundly touches listeners. La carrière d'Angélique Ionatos est peu commune. A 15 ans, elle quitte son pays natal pour la Belgique puis la France. Elle y enregistre son premier album, chanté en français, en compagnie de son frère Photis. Le succès d'estime est immédiat puisque Résurrection obtient le grand prix de l'académie Charles-Cros, scellant ainsi une relation forte avec la France. L'univers d’Angélique Ionatos est indissociable de ceux de la poésie et de la littérature. Elle compose à de nombreuses reprises sur des textes d'auteurs reconnus, parmi lesquels Odysseus Elytis, Oscar Wilde ou encore Pablo Neruda. En 2014, elle s’attelle finalement à la composition de son nouvel album. Un disque intégralement chanté et basé sur des poèmes grecs, marqué par une forte mélancolie, en réponse à la situation de son pays, la Grèce. Le fabuleux jeu de guitare d'Angélique, percutant et précis, y est pour beaucoup. Mais c'est aussi par l'évidente beauté de son chant, pourtant très influencé par les tonalités funèbres du thrène, qu'elle parvient à toucher profondément son auditoire.
