Red Earth
Details: Warner Music Canada are pleased to announce that Red Earth, the classic debut album from Crash Vegas will be re-released on 180 gram vinyl. To celebrate the release, original members Michelle McAdorey, Colin Cripps, and Ambrose Pottie have announced that Crash Vegas will reform for selected live dates. “It is a privilege to play music- to be playing with friends,” says Michelle McAdorey. “When we made Red Earth we were so young and lucky to be doing what we loved and working with good people. I felt that with the songs on Red Earth it was a way to sing to my own kind - that feeling of being dis-enfranchised , being an outsider , and feeling alienated and trying to make sense of the world . We made that record seriously with care, joy and suffering- and we poured our hearts into it…" Crash Vegas was formed in 1988 by singer Michelle McAdorey and Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor and included guitarist Colin Cripps, drummer Ambrose Pottie and bassist Jocelyne Lanois. Keelor left the band before they recorded Red Earth in order to focus on his commitments to Blue Rodeo. Guitarist Colin Cripps commented "Red Earth was born of desire and ambition, mixed with a love for Rebel Hippie Country, The Great Canadian Landscape, Nina Simone, the search for the lasting phrase, Punk Rock Balladeers and the heat of an Acadian night." Red Earth was produced by Malcolm Burn (John Mellencamp, Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan) and was originally released in January 1990. The band went on to release two other records to critical acclaim (Stone 1992 and Aurora 1995). In 1996, they disbanded and all moved on to solo endeavours. Michelle and Ambrose as pillars in the Toronto music scene, and Colin as a producer and guitarist before settling into his current role as a member of Blue Rodeo
