Details: Young Turks / Beggars Group are very pleased to announce the signing of Toronto’s evil super group, Holy Fuck and the release their brand new full length, simply titled, LP. The group, a chaotic live celebration of lo-fi noise and weirdo casio-driven rock built by founders Graham Walsh and Brian Borcherdt, use a rotating rhythm section of close friends that at times has included former members of Guided By Voices, King Cobb Steelie, and Blue Rodeo. Without rehearsing or arranging parts prior to hitting the stage, Holy Fuck wrote the songs for the album live on tour. Each time they'd return home they would check into a studio and cathartically capture the frenetic energy of the live show. The final sheen of the studio feel came largely from the mixing hands of Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys) and Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals). Their live show has become a force to be reckoned with. An early performance at Pop Montréal, was witnessed by New York based MC, and ex-Antipop Consortium member, Beans who was so impressed with their unique take on 'electronic' music that he invited them to Coachella as his backing band. Now only a few years later Holy Fuck have become a heavy hitting tour de force, with a devoted audience of both cultish fans and new comers drawn by their reputation. The band has toured with Do Make Say Think, !!!, Clinic, Wolf Parade, Cornelius, Metric, and Mouse on Mars. They've also made appearances at world renowned festivals like Vegoose, All Tomorrow's Parties, Montreal Jazz, SXSW, and CMJ. Artist And Album Information Previously the band have self-released a full length (2005) and a limited edition EP (2007), both on Dependent Music, a music label/collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1994. They are now set to release their new album "LP" on 23rd October via Young Turks. Afraid that electronic presets and affectations will inevitably date the sound of today's dance and rock music, Holy Fuck decided to strip away hi-tech gear in favour of the nearly unmanageable lo-tech battery operated keyboards. The often cheesy beats, like rhumba, disco and techno emitted by these half-broken kid's toys are then manipulated with guitar peddles and distorting cheapo mixers. Holy Fuck's drummer and bassist then kick in, accompanied by other outlandish sounds such as 35 mm film being scratched over tape heads. The end result is not childish like the keyboard beats might have originally suggested. Holy Fuck, hailing from a more punk rock background, steer the songs into an epic, kraut-rockish climax, something stirring and infectious, yet danceable and fun. "LP" then is a riot of distorted sounds and heavy beats from start to finish. Kick-starting with a live version of "Super Inuit" (this was recorded whilst touring with !!! although a studio version will be available as an extra track on the iTunes release), it's a mass of tribal drums sounds and hypnotic, pulsing synth lines and shows the full force that Holy Fuck possess as a live band.
